Firefox Addons - Using Shareaholic To Reach And Share More Useful Leads And Info From Our Niches - Online Writing Buzz Jan 19th 2009

What's so great about it?

Well, if you're one of those writers who wants to share or blog most every piece of useful niche info they find with their readers, you probably have a browser packed full of Share Applications, Firefox Addons, Social networking icons, social media buttons,mozilla or explorer extensions and maybe even a Blog This facility!

Great, but isn't it all getting a bit messy up there on that browser? I know mine is - so I was keen to learn more about the new all-in-one browser button!

It's called Shareaholic - very apt for online writing practitioners and bloggers who can't resist meeting up every 5 minutes on Twitter or Facebook to see what everyone else thinks of the latest new technology, software or gadget! So, after a quick visit, I have decided to install it - and to write a Shareaholic review.

Apparently the new Shareaholic features let you bookmark or share your favorite web pages with your contacts instantly - without even leaving the browser. It works with e-mail too, making it even easier to share webpages with followers - who may also be readers.

So what makes it better than all the bookmarkers or Firefox addons we have already?

Well, that long list of social bookmarking sites or buttons that are at present scattered all over our desktops or stuffed into our browsers can be accessed 'on one button alone' with the cute green share icon.

So, (as I'm going to do in a minute!) we can have a good detox session for our laptops and give our browsers a spring-clean!

With the new Shareaholic Firefox addon it will so much quicker and easier for us to submit web pages we're reading or researching to our favorite bookmarking services for sharing.

The list of social bookmarking sites it works with includes:

delicious, yahoo buzz, digg, facebook,twitter,ycombinator,friendfeed,magnolia,yahoo buzz,stumbleupon,bit.ly,weheartit,meneame,gmail, twine,google reader (bookmarks and notes),kaboodle,tumblr, tipjoy and soup.io.

Shareaholic also lets you know popular a web page is by showing how well it has been voted up on some services such as Delicious or Digg.

Luckily for me it works with Flock! (my browser of choice at the moment) - but also with Firefox 2.0+ and Songbird, both on PCs and Macs. I'm also told it's free of spy or malware - some online writing buddies are using it OK. It seems to be one of the Firefox Addons that are popular with bloggers! Hope my Shareaholic review was useful.
